SM Planning assisted a client in obtaining planning permission for the change of use of part of the ground and first floor of a barber shop to a new residential dwelling and associated external alterations in Camden Broadway Conservation Area. By virtue that a viable commercial unit would remain, and the proposal would deliver a new dwelling to the local housing stock, we argued that the merits of the proposal outweigh the loss of retail floorspace. Other considerations included the impact upon the character and appearance of the area, neighbouring amenity and the living conditions of future occupiers.
